Though he was born in Minnesota, Pastor Mahnke grew up in southeastern Wisconsin. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1994 with a degree in theology. After serving for a year as an instructor at a Lutheran high school in Nebraska, he has since been a pastor at churches in Wisconsin (Medford, 1995-2001) and Florida (Clearwater, 2001-2008). He has been serving as the outreach pastor at St. Peter Lutheran Church since January 2009. Early in 2011 his office was moved to Key to Life so that he could devote more of his time reaching out to the families.

In addition to his duties at St Peter and Key to Life, Pastor Mahnke serves on the Wausau Area Hmong Ministry Board and on the Western Wisconsin District Mission Board.  He also serves as a parish consultant for our Synod’s Commission on Congregational Counseling. He’s happily married to Stacy and she serves the Lord as a lead infant teacher/caregiver at Key to Life.  God has blessed their marriage with three daughters: Brianna, Alissa and Cierra. In his spare time Pastor Mahnke enjoys working out and playing sports (his favorites are tennis and fast pitch softball). He also likes to hunt in the fall for deer with the crossbow and rifle. Since moving back to Wisconsin, Pastor and Stacy have taken up gardening as well.

When asked what he enjoys the most about ministry and being connected to St Peter and Key to Life Childcare Center Pastor Mahnke responded, “I love the opportunities that God gives me to share with the children and their parents the great news that Jesus has taken all their sins away and that because of him our families will be together forever in the better life to come one day in heaven.  God is so good!”

Pastor Mahnke’s office door is always open, and he can also be reached on his cell phone and email.
